START PLANNING ↗A non-refundable deposit confirms this itinerary and secures the Exclusive Mountain Gorilla Experience, chimpanzee trekking, and Akagera arrangements together. Given this trip spans four regions across fourteen days and depends on the Exclusive Experience’s broader scheduling capacity rather than a fixed daily allocation, we recommend booking at least nine months to a year ahead, and earlier still for peak season (June–September, December–February) or a specific milestone date.
The balance is due ahead of arrival on a schedule confirmed in your written proposal. Once booked, we coordinate every lodge, permit, and transfer across all four regions directly, so this genuinely complex itinerary is managed as a single private trip rather than a series of separate bookings you have to piece together yourself.
WHO THIS SUITS
This is the most complete private itinerary we build — every major Rwandan wildlife experience, a genuinely private gorilla encounter rather than a shared one, and a deliberate Lake Kivu pause partway through to prevent the trip from ever feeling like a checklist. It suits travellers marking a significant milestone, groups of four or more sharing the Exclusive Experience cost, and anyone who has decided this will likely be their only Rwanda trip and wants nothing left unexplored.
Placed deliberately between the Volcanoes National Park and Nyungwe legs, the two-night Lake Kivu stop breaks up what would otherwise be seven consecutive days of demanding trekking and safari activity across three different regions. A free day for boat trips or simply resting by the water gives your group genuine recovery time before the physically demanding chimpanzee trek at Nyungwe, rather than arriving there already fatigued from the preceding week.
What exactly is included in the $24,900 per-person price?
The Exclusive Mountain Gorilla Experience, golden monkey trekking, chimpanzee trekking, the canopy walkway
fee, thirteen nights across Kigali, Akagera, Volcanoes National Park, Lake Kivu, and Nyungwe on an
all-inclusive basis, your private guide and vehicle throughout, and all transfers. International flights are
not included, and the per-person figure assumes a group of four to eight sharing the Exclusive Experience
fee.
Is fourteen days too long, or genuinely
necessary?
Necessary if you want every major experience this itinerary includes at an unhurried pace; travellers with
less time or a narrower focus should consider our 10-Day or
12-Day Itineraries instead.
Can we downgrade the gorilla permit to reduce
cost?
Yes — we can rebuild this exact itinerary around the standard Mountain Gorilla Trekking Permit instead,
significantly reducing overall cost while keeping the rest of the circuit identical.
Can we substitute any of the lodges?
Yes — every property in this itinerary can be adjusted independently based on your preferences and
budget, from Magashi Camp at Akagera through to the Nyungwe leg.
How quickly will we hear back after
enquiring?
We respond to every enquiry within 48 hours with a bespoke written proposal covering the exact lodges,
pricing, and day-by-day details for your specific dates and group size.
This fourteen-day structure is a flexible starting template — common adjustments include upgrading further to the Behind the Scene Gorilla Package, adding a night at any single region, or including the Dian Fossey Tomb Hike on a free morning. Tell us what matters most to your group and we’ll build a final proposal around it.
A NOTE ON PRICING
This figure assumes a group of four to eight sharing the $15,000 Exclusive Experience fee, double occupancy at the lodges named throughout during standard season. Smaller groups, peak-season dates, and alternative lodge tiers all shift the per-person cost. We always confirm exact, all-inclusive pricing in your written proposal before asking for any commitment.
This itinerary moves through more distinct climates than any other trip we build — Akagera’s hot savanna, Volcanoes National Park’s cool high-altitude forest, Lake Kivu’s warm lakeside setting, and Nyungwe’s humid rainforest. Lighter clothing and sun protection for Akagera and Lake Kivu, warm layers and waterproof boots for the volcano region, and a genuine rain jacket for Nyungwe cover the range. We provide a detailed, itinerary-specific packing list as part of your final booking confirmation.
