START PLANNING ↗A non-refundable deposit covering your gorilla permits confirms your dates and secures the trek with the Rwanda Development Board. Because honeymoon and milestone travel often carries fixed, non-negotiable dates, we recommend booking at least six to nine months ahead, particularly for peak season (June–September, December–February) or a specific anniversary date you want to lock in.
The balance is due ahead of arrival on a schedule confirmed in your written proposal. We arrange romantic dining, any special requests for your gorilla trek day, and every transfer directly, so the only thing you need to plan yourselves is what to wear for dinner.
WHO THIS SUITS
This itinerary suits couples who want exactly one genuinely significant, once-in-a-lifetime experience — the gorilla trek — without building an entire trip around constant activity. The two free nights on Lake Kivu that follow are deliberately unscheduled, giving you space to simply be together rather than moving from one planned excursion to the next. It suits honeymooners specifically, but works equally well for anniversary trips or any couple wanting a private, romantic pace throughout.
Private suite accommodation throughout means no shared facilities at any point in the trip, and romantic in-lodge dining — a private dinner on your villa deck at Bisate Lodge, a candlelit table by Lake Kivu — can be arranged at both properties on request. If a specific gesture matters to you, whether flowers on arrival, a particular anniversary detail, or something else entirely, tell us when planning and we’ll arrange it directly with the lodge ahead of your arrival.
Should we upgrade to the Exclusive Mountain Gorilla
Experience for a honeymoon?
Many couples do — it’s one of the most common uses of that product specifically, given the
genuinely private, unhurried hour it provides. We can rebuild this itinerary around it if privacy during the
trek itself matters to you.
What exactly is included in the $8,200
per-person price?
The standard gorilla permit for two, five nights across Kigali, Bisate Lodge, and Lake Kivu on an
all-inclusive basis, your private guide and vehicle throughout, and all transfers. International flights are
not included.
Can we arrange a special surprise or gesture
for our partner?
Yes — tell us what you have in mind when planning your itinerary and we’ll coordinate directly
with the relevant lodge to arrange it ahead of your arrival.
Is Lake Kivu genuinely relaxing, or is there
pressure to stay busy?
Genuinely relaxing — the two days are deliberately left unscheduled. Activities like a sunset kayak or
a section of the Congo Nile Trail are available if you want them, but nothing is expected.
How quickly will we hear back after
enquiring?
We respond to every enquiry within 48 hours with a bespoke written proposal covering the exact lodges,
pricing, and itinerary details for your specific dates.
This six-day structure is a flexible starting template — common adjustments include upgrading to the Exclusive Mountain Gorilla Experience, extending the Lake Kivu stay by an extra night, or adding a Nyungwe chimpanzee-trekking extension for couples with more time. Tell us what matters most to you and we’ll build a final proposal around it.
A NOTE ON PRICING
This figure reflects double occupancy at Bisate Lodge and the Lake Kivu Serena Hotel during standard season, with the standard permit tier. Peak-season dates and an upgrade to the Exclusive Experience both shift this figure upward. We always confirm exact, all-inclusive pricing in your written proposal before asking for any commitment.
A honeymoon or milestone trip deserves the same careful coordination as any longer itinerary, arguably more given how much a single logistics mistake can affect the mood of a genuinely special occasion. We handle the permit, both lodge bookings, every transfer, and any romantic touches you request directly, working with each property ahead of your arrival so the details are in place before you land rather than arranged on the fly once you’re already there.
