VIEW DETAILS ↗Most private itineraries fly into Kigali International Airport (Rwanda) or Entebbe International Airport (Uganda), depending on which country’s gorilla permits your trip is built around. We handle airport meet-and-greet, all ground transfers, and — on itineraries that combine both countries — the overland or charter-flight connection between them.
VISAS
Most nationalities can enter both Rwanda and Uganda on a single East Africa Tourist Visa, which also covers Kenya and is valid for up to 90 days across multiple entries between the three countries — ideal for a combined Rwanda & Uganda itinerary that crosses the border once or twice. Both countries also issue their own standalone e-visas online in advance. Visa requirements vary by nationality and do change, so we confirm the current requirement for your passport as part of planning and share the application link directly.
ENTERING RWANDA
Kigali is a modern, efficient hub with direct flights from several European, Middle Eastern, and regional African cities. From Kigali, it’s roughly a 2.5–3 hour drive to Volcanoes National Park, a 2–3 hour drive to Akagera, and either a 5-hour drive or a 35-minute domestic flight to Nyungwe in the southwest.
ENTERING UGANDA
Entebbe sits on Lake Victoria, about 40 minutes from Kampala. Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is roughly 8–9 hours away by road, so most private itineraries use a scenic light-aircraft charter instead — around 1.5 hours, landing at one of several airstrips near the park depending on which sector you’re trekking.
COMBINED ITINERARIES
If your itinerary treks gorillas in both countries, the Cyanika border crossing connects Volcanoes National Park (Rwanda) to Mgahinga and southern Bwindi (Uganda) directly — usually a 2–3 hour drive between park headquarters, avoiding a return trip through either capital. We handle all border paperwork as part of your private transfer.
Tell us which parks you want to visit and we’ll map the most efficient route in and out, with all transfers and visas confirmed in your bespoke proposal.
